On 6 June, at 18:00, the Art Academy of Latvia (LMA) will open the exhibition of the best works by the students of the BA, MA and Professional Doctorate programmes of the Design Department, which is the central event of the "LMA Design Days ('24)" programme of events.

Alongside the traditional LMA Carnival, the Jaunmarka and the Graduates' Exhibition, Design Days has become an invaluable event that reflects the achievements, creativity and current events of students in the field of design. This year's Design Days will take place for the seventeenth time in a row, and this year's thematic core will highlight the importance of design as a process, revealing the invisible stories behind each work and project.

"The authors of the exhibition focus on process experimentation, sustainability, reuse of materials, user experience in service design, promotion of freedom, space, well-being and eco-centred design approach, as well as other topical and challenging issues in society", says Matīss Zvaigzne, Head of the Design Department at the LMA.

The exhibition will bring together the best studio and diploma works - 44 in total, selected by the teachers of the Design Department. Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of creative works, from avant-garde fashion collections to practical design products, interior solutions and metal design installations. The exhibition will be accompanied by a dynamic programme of presentations, workshops and storytelling sessions, a communication day and an exhibition/showroom of the LMA fashion show collections. The showroom will offer an opportunity to see the garments from this year's collections and to watch two films dedicated to the creative process behind the scenes and its surprising results. For the first time, a Design Pop-Up Shop will be open during the show, where students' work will be on display and available for purchase, as well as special shirts, socks and two editions created for this year's Fashion Show and Design Days.

The opening of the exhibition "LMA Design Days ('24)" will take place on 6 June at 18.00. In the first floor hall, 13 Kalpaka Boulevard.

Design Days have been organised since 2007. It is organised by the Design Department of the LMA, which has five specialisations: graphic, product, interior, metal and fashion design, and 208 students studying bachelor's and master's programmes. This year, the exhibition will also be attended by students from the SDSI, the international master's programme in Service Design Strategy and Innovation at the LMA.
