STUDENT ART FAIR "JAUNMARKA" | 14 DECEMBER 2024 – 5 JANUARY 2025

From December 14, 2024, to January 5, 2025, the auditorium of the Art Academy of Latvia (AAL) (Riga, Kalpaka bulvāris 13) will host the annual grand student art exhibition and market JAUNmarka, with this year’s motto being: Warm up with art!

Each year more than 200 students participate in JAUNmarka with original artwork, representing all specialties and offering a wide range of art – paintings, graphic design, unique ceramic and glass art, as well as jewellery, fashion and textile pieces. For the new artists, this is often one of the first chances to introduce the public to their creative work, but for the visitors of the exhibition – a chance to support fresh talent.

The extensive JAUNmarka exhibition, which encompasses thousands of unique art pieces, will be updated regularly throughout the event, so it is worthwhile to return to the exhibition during these three weeks to discover new art. This year, too, will feature artwork selections by invited public figures and experts from the sphere of culture and art that will show their view on the wide range of art; the artists themselves will also be at the exhibition.

The representative of AAL Student council and one of the organisers of JAUNmarka, Agnese Apine, says, “Each year, JAUNmarka is a special event that creates a sense of warmth and magnificence right before the holidays. For me, JAUNmarka signifies excitement and caring, seeing how the students unite and tirelessly prepare to make this exhibition into reality. It is also a unique experience, as nowhere else in Latvia can you see so many works of new and upcoming artists together in one place!”

The annual tradition of the student art exhibition was started 20 years ago during the Christmas holidays, when the doors of AAL open to the wider public, giving them a chance to hunt for art in the picturesque auditorium of the AAL.

The grand exhibition is sponsored by: Citadele Bank, Latvijas Finieris.
