Fashion department of Art Academy of Latvia together with State Culture Capital Foundation and Danish Cultural Institute have created the lecture cycle “Fashion Future” inviting world class fashion designers to talk about the future of fashion. Our guests will be the fashion designers Henrik Vibskov (Denmark) and Rolands Pēterkops (Latvia) from the duo MAREUNROL’S.

Fashion department of Art Academy of Latvia is promoting a Baltic States fashion design identity with a jointly created vision for fashion industries development in the region and its place in national economies. It is critically important and inspiring to speak with world leading masters of fashion. Professionals of this level are not frequent in Latvia. The future vision presented by the Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov would help Latvian fashion industries to see a new context of fashion design identity. The lecture by the Latvian fashion duo MAREUNROL’S will ask questions to help reimagine Latvian fashion industry.

Henrik Vibskov
Intersections between art and design

Graduated from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London in 2001.  Established a fashion label under his own name Henrik Vibskov. Member of Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine since 2003. Multimedia artist creating installations for exhibitions and fashion installations, web design, director, drummer for the bands Mountain Yorokbu and Trentemoller. Has taken part in exhibitions at The Museum of Art and Design, MoMA, PS1 in New York, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, ICA in London, Zeeuws Museum in Holland, Kiyomizu-Dera Temple in Japan and many others. Had solo exhibitions in TEMPO Stockholm, Daelim Museum South Korea, Gammel Strand Copenhagen, Design Museum Helsinki and many more. Has created costumes for operas and art performances. Professor at DSKS Copenhagen, jury and lector at Central Saint Martins, IED in Madrid and in Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Publisher of four books including Gestalten monograph published in 2012.

Rolands Pēterkops
altered states of fashion

Creator and designer in the fashion duo MAREUNROL’S (together with Mārīte Mastiņa-Pēterkopa); a co-creator of the music and culture broadcast Tīrkultūra at Latvian Radio 3 program Klasika. Together with Mārīte Mastiņa-Pēterkopa took part in prestigious Hyères fashion competition and for the very first time in its history won both of the main prizes. Has studied at Art Academy of Latvia and at Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Creating new MAREUNROL’S collections for different important fashion and art projects. Has created set designs for exhibitions and fashion installations in Latvia and aboard.  With guest lectures and workshops has visited different art education institutions in Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Poland, Russia, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Japan. Created costumes for theatre and opera productions in Latvia and Russia. MAREUNROL’S works have been included in the Phaidon book Pattern: 100 designers, 10 curators.
