Graduate Exhibition "Migration" Travels to Brussels
“Migration”, an exhibition of this year's graduation works, was the first event held at the recently reconstructed annex of the Art Academy of Latvia. Now it has travelled on to be exhibited at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the EU in Brussels, Belgium, where the show will be on view from 11 October until 20 November 2012.

Over the years, graduate shows have become a cherished tradition at the Art Academy of Latvia. Every year the exhibition attempts to capture a common thread through the works of the young generation of artists, and this time it is migration – movement and progress with all its connotations. The graduate show witnesses the development of young artists, of talents nurtured, shaped and swept along the currents of our changing times, of new styles emerging and flourishing. In the exhibition, the works of the young art graduates stand side by side with the paintings of their professors, who have been mentoring and guiding the new generation throughout their study years.

“Migration” features artworks by the following faculty members and students of the Art Academy of Latvia: Rector Aleksejs Naumovs, Vice-Rector Kristaps Zariņš, Docent Andris Vītoliņš, Head of the Academy’s Project Department Laura Ozola, graduates: Ieva Bondare, Zane Veldre, Adriāna Vīgnere, Paula Zariņa, Magone Šarkovska, Vineta Priste-Kārkla, Baiba Majore, Darja Fjodorova, Ance Gricmane, Ilze Ontužāne, Zane Tuča, Elza Sīle, Krista Dzudzilo, Elīna Alka and Kristīne Urbanaviča.
